World’s Largest Telescope


Work has been started on the world’s largest telescope in Chile. The main mirror is 39 meters across and is located on a 3000 meter high mountain in the middle of the Atacama desert. The telescope will start to operate in 2024. At 2012 prices, it would cost about 1.58 billion dollars to do this project. This is 5 times larger than what we use now.
