Dear Minister Of Education,
I am writing to you to persuade you to keep P.E and not take it away from our school Curriculum.
Really? Why would you take away one of the most important subject ever? P.E is a big part of our school! The things we would be missing out on are: Swimming, Athletics, Cross-Country, and lots of fun games. It also links with our house groups. The names of our house groups are:
- Weka
- Kapui
- Patiki
- Orewa
Our house teams compete for points that add up all over the year. Our class do extra challenges to get more points for our house team. We can get points for our swimming, athletics, and cross-country. If P.E was taken away their would be no point in making our house teams.
Taking P.E away from us would prevent us from getting fit. The kids wouldn’t learn how to stay healthy, keep fit, help us with careers, muscular strength, and our flexibility.
Last years statistics say that 1 in 8 children were 12 percent obese. Another 21 percent were not obese but were overweight. The rates of obesity for children have increased by 4 percent from 2006/07 to 2016/17. Obesity has an impact on physiological and physical health. Kids are most likely to stay overweight into adulthood.
Keep in mind that more the rates of children becoming obese/overweight will increase and it will probably stick with them for the rest of their lives. They won’t know how to get healthy and you will create ignominy from the parents from our school and there will probably be a lot of complaints.
Thanks
Joshua Tagomoa
