Labour Day Holiday
In New Zealand Labour day is a public holiday and it is the fourth Monday in October. We have this day off because of a carpenter by the name of Samuel Parnell who came to work in New Zealand in 1840 and refused to work more than eight hours a day. He fought to have the eight hour day in Wellington and won the right.
Many workers that live in New Zealand take the spare time to relax and go away on the long weekend. Labour day was first celebrated on October, 28, 1890 in New Zealand.
